The Veil of Aphrodite
The Veil of Aphrodite is a sophisticated, nerve-sparing procedure that Dr. Mani Menon developed that minimizes the erectile dysfunction once routinely caused by radical prostatectomy.
Erectile dysfunction is the inability to have, and sustain, an adequate erection for sexual intercourse. This used to be the norm for prostate cancer patients who underwent surgery as nerves and blood vessels required for erections were often stretched or cut.
Dr. Menon's nerve-sparing surgical technique, the Veil of Aphrodite, means that erectile dysfunction is no longer an inevitability for prostate cancer patients. Of patients with no pre-existing erectile dysfunction who underwent Dr. Menon's technique of robotic radical prostatectomy incorporating the Veil of Aphrodite, 97% achieved erections strong enough for intercourse and 86% reported that their erections were normal. This is a much better outcome than patients who underwent other procedures experienced, and a major breakthrough for prostate cancer patients everywhere.
