What Is a Prostatectomy?
Prostatectomy is the surgical removal of the prostate gland. A simple prostatectomy involves the surgical removal of part of the prostate gland. Radical prostatectomy involves the removal of the gland as well as the surrounding tissues. Radical prostatectomy has long been recognized as one of the most effective ways of treating prostate cancer.
