What Is a Nerve Sparing Prostatectomy
A nerve sparing prostatectomy is one that protects the nerves and blood vessels required for erections. In other methods of prostate surgery, these nerves are sometimes stretched or cut.
Dr. Mani Menon created a nerve sparing robotic surgery technique to protect these sensitive nerves and vessels, known as the Veil of Aphrodite. This technique results in significantly better erectile function outcomes without compromising cancer control.
